Kristian Leth is a Danish Academy Award Nominated film composer. This clip is from ‘Moments of Play’ by Jørgen Leth, 1986.

Leth’s compositional career took an early and rather dramatic start when the piano improvisation above – performed by a 4 year old Leth – was picked up by the musical legend Antonio Carlos Jobim – who was commissioned to score the film ‘Moments of Play’. Jobim reportedly told the director Jørgen Leth “I’ll score it, if I can use that music from the scene with the little boy,” not knowing that Jørgen Leth is Kristian Leth’s father. Leth Sr agreed with no qualms.

Here is an example of how Jobim used the recording of the piano and wrote additional roles for woodwind and used it as score for the film:
